Compensation will always be important for ensuring that retention can be high for an organization. This is because there will be frustration experienced by an employee if the basic financial benefits are not as per the standards of the industry of the organization worked in by the employee. Retention can be low when the rate of compensation is low or when the rate of compensation does not get enhanced regularly by satisfactory percentages (Kalyanamitra et al., 2020). There can be unfair compensation because of paying some employees in similar positions with high compensation and others in similar positions with low compensation. This can be a major issue for employees to become dissatisfied. Therefore, employees being treated unfairly with payment of lower rates of unfair compensation can tend to leave such an organization. Retention can be impacted by lack of appreciation of employees for doing good work (Week 4 Lesson 6 PPT).
